Good materials.
The right application.
Where it may be a good fit
- Attic floors with suitable access and ventilation
- Selected existing wall cavities after an assessment
- Open framing where the installation method is appropriate
What to consider
Installed depth and density affect performance. The right approach depends on the application and product instructions.
Air sealing, ventilation paths and clearances around fixtures still need attention.
Leaks and moisture problems should be corrected before work begins. Existing wall cavities may need access openings.
Compare all three materialsGood questions. Clear answers.
Is cellulose made from recycled material?
It is made primarily from recycled paper fibers. The exact recycled content and treatment depend on the product selected.
Can it be added to an attic?
Often, but the existing insulation, air leaks, moisture, ventilation and access should be reviewed first. More material alone does not solve every comfort issue.
Can existing walls be insulated?
Some wall cavities can be filled through access openings. Framing, obstructions and existing materials determine whether this is a suitable approach.
